1. Egyptian doctors didn’t know that the brain had anything to do with thinking. They thought the heart was the center of reason.

2. Doctors also thought that urine, blood, excrement, and semen circulated throughout the body.

3. Egyptian women created the first pregnancy test. They moistened a small bit of barley and wheat each day, and if the barley grew, the child would be a boy. If the wheat grew, the child was a girl. If neither barley nor wheat grew, the woman was not pregnant.

4. A cataract in the eye was believed to have been caused by a liquid flowing into the eye. A mixture of turquoise brain and honey treated it.

5. The oldest known physician is Imhotep, who lived around 2725 B.C.

6. Doctors in ancient Egypt went through years of training at temple schools and were able to set broken bones, and studied brain structure.
